Managing the Lost Person Incident (MLPI)

Students must bring the MLPI text book and FOG Manual for the class.  THESE BOOKS ARE REQUIRED! 
It is recommended as prerequisites for MLPI students to have taken Fundamentals of Search and Rescue and/or Advanced Search and Rescue courses (or equivalent), Introduction to Incident Command (NIIMS) ICS-100 and the (NIIMS) ICS I-200 series courses (or equivalent). (NIIMS) ICS I-300 series may also be very helpful to the MLPI student. If you have not taken either the FunSAR class or the ADSAR class and received a passing grade, please contact the instructor prior to registering.

This compass course is targeted for those in off-road vehicles, but can be run as a SAR Tech I or II course as well.
 
The accuracy of the GPS used to set up this course was about 20 feet.
 
Suggested Gear: Appropriate to terrain and weather conditions.
 
Don't become discouraged if you are unable to locate the Check Point (CP). We will be checking the CPs periodically but they may have been tampered with or moved.
 
Safety Concerns: Slipping and falling injuries as well as heat related illnesses and local wildlife (such as ticks, snakes, etc.)

Instructions: 

Plot the points on a topo map and locate them using GPS, topo map and grid reader. Write down the letter or letters on the CP. This course is set up so that anyone can do some or all of the course, but it is not in a particular order. Use caution when locating CPs.
